What Is CrossFit?

CrossFit is the principal strength and conditioning program for many police academies and tactical operations teams, military special operations units, champion martial artists, and hundreds of other elite and professional athletes worldwide. Since then it has evolved to be an all inclusive fitness program for people of any athletic capability. Our program delivers a fitness that is, by design, broad, general, and inclusive. Our specialty is not specializing. Combat, survival, sports, and life all reward this kind of fitness and, on average, punish the specialist.

The CrossFit program is designed for universal scalability making it the perfect application for any committed individual regardless of experience. We’ve used our same routines for elderly individuals with heart disease and cage fighters one month out from televised bouts. We scale load and intensity; we don’t change programs. The needs of Olympic athletes and our grandparents differ by degree not kind. Our armed forces, skiers, mountain bike riders and housewives have found their best fitness from the same regimen.

I'm new to CrossFit. What should I expect?

When you first join Atlantic Beach CrossFit, you’ll start out with a FREE intro where you’ll perform a baseline workout, chat with our coaches, and discuss your goals. Then, we’ll recommend personal training sessions where you’ll learn the basic movements and principles of CrossFit. More experienced athletes can use their PT time to work on specific skills or refresh themselves with the CrossFit fundamentals.

Is CrossFit dangerous?

In short, yes CrossFit can be dangerous. But not in the ways you might believe. With inexperienced coaches, shoddy equipment, and the wrong attitude, CrossFit can be very dangerous – but so can riding your bike or driving your car. The experienced and proven CrossFit coaches you’ll find at our facility will ensure that you’re training in the safest most effective and efficient way possible.

What's a WOD?

A WOD is the workout of the day. We program a different WOD everyday.

Do you offer personal training?

We believe in the CrossFit prescription. We feel that it is important and necessary to show our support of the cross the community as a whole. We want our athletes to realize the CrossFit experience in community and benefits fully. CrossFit is a revolution in fitness that is continuously making a positive impact on people's health. Not only do we believe in the fitness principles put forward, but we also believe in the change that CrossFit is trying to make in the health and fitness industry as a whole.

Who is this for?

CrossFit is for every person out there that wants to be healthy and hedge against sickness and chronic disease. We are here for everyday fitness first and foremost.

What happened to HydraFit?

July 12, 2017, we ("HydraFit") became a CrossFit affiliate - "Atlantic Beach CrossFit" ("ABCF").  We became an affiliate because it was impossible to ignore the benefits of the CrossFit prescription - "constantly varied functional movements performed at high intensity." In order to stay consistent with what we believe and to further promote the CrossFit beliefs and community, we have decided to officially become "Atlantic Beach CrossFit." We're still the same gym and the same people (Max, Nikki, and Tanner) we're just a little different brand.

Will workouts change?
-- No. We currently do and have been doing constantly varied functional movements performed at high intensity.
